Risk Management

The importance of managing Cyber Risk

Description

The Risk Management course provides the theoretical foundations of risk management and the concepts of risk.

This course defines and covers the general concepts of risk, from its types to the damage a risk can cause, and then describes and analyzes the four phases of the risk management process. This course also gives a definition of context and objectives, risk assessment (divided into identification, estimation and evaluation of risks), risk treatment and control (monitoring).

    Particular emphasis is placed on:

    - The risk assessment phase, in particular the three risk assessment methods: qualitative, quantitative and semi-quantitative; the advantages and disadvantages of each method were analyzed and then common considerations were made about these methods.

    - The risk management phase, in which the four risk management methods (avoid, transfer, mitigate and accept) were defined. The most common method, risk mitigation, was identified and its objectives were defined.

Other than analyzing the cyber risk and explaining the cyber risk management process and its phases, the last section of this course describes the two main cyber risk management frameworks: NIST and ISO.

This course uses real-world examples, images, and graphics to explain its content and make its definitions of cyber risk and the risk management process clearer and easier to understand.

The main objective of risk management is to minimize losses and maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of production processes; in particular, risk assessment is aimed at identifying and analyzing risks to understand what are the priorities for action and then produce strategic actions to contain or mitigate them.
